Cheilitis

Cheilitis is the inflammation of the lips or of a lip. Angular cheilitis is inflammation and fissuring (cracks) radiating from the corners of the mouth. It is the result of predisposing factors such as nutritional deficiencies, atopic dermatitis or a Candida albicans (yeast) infection. Cheilitis is sometimes referred to as angular stomatitis, commissural cheilitis, or perlèche.
