Pregnancy
My friend is 6 months pregnant. She is 28 and never had a spot on her face until she got pregnant. Her face is now covered in acne and she is getting worried about it. Do you think the acne will go away once she gives birth? And what treatments can she use while she is pregnant?

Personally I would wait until the pregnancy to see if the acne disappears. I certainly would not take any medication to treat acne during pregnancy. Maybe your friend can try some appropariate over the counter cleanser products.

but medically thinking, during pregnancy your hormones tend to be all over the place, and one of the results of this could be acne. Even if you have never suffered with acne before, the hormonal imbalance during pregnancy can cause a breakout of this condition, which could last for a long while.
Pregnancy Acne Treatment

Worse still, because of the pregnancy it can be hard to find an effective pregnancy acne treatment, as you may be prohibited from using one that are laden with drugs or chemicals in case your unborn child is affected by them. It isn't just oral acne treatment that can cause concern to pregnant women - topical creams and ointments that contain powerful chemicals also pose a risk, as these chemicals are absorbed in to the body through the skin. This makes pregnancy a particularly difficult time during which to have to deal with acne, as there is very little that can be done about it.

Although i'm not a women, i think it would be due to stress and hormone imbalance.

Anyway, pregnacy period is very sensitive and need extra care. Anti-Acne medicine especially consumable are not advisable.

Better wait after pregnacy period. As many poster said it will go away... it shouldn't cause any worry. I Learn something new.

I would suggest that your friend keep washing her face as often as she can. Most of the time acne is caused by oily skin and washing one's face might help in alleviating the condition.

It certainly points to hormones as your friend has never suffered with acne before.
The best thing your friend can do is mention it to her midwife at her next visit and see what they advice her, as over the counter meds and creams are not always suitable for pregnant women as already been mentioned here.

Acne can also breakout because of too much stress and as mentioned, hormones. Maybe the pregnancy is a bit difficult for your friend and she is always stressed or worrying.
