how to recognise Symptoms of a Stroke
Please note that bold letters etc and capitals are for obvious reasons, and do not represent shouting or aggressiveness.

You never know when this info may come in handy !!!!

A cardiologist has said that if everyone who gets this information to at least 10 people, you can be assured that at least one life may be saved.
A neurologist has said that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally
reverse the effects of a stroke...totally . He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
Obviously time is of the essence.
Remember the !st 3 letters of the word "Stroke" S.T.R.

Doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking four simple questions:

S * Ask the person to SMILE.

S * Ask the person to STICK THEIR TONGUE OUT
If the tongue is 'crooked', if they can't stick it out straight, if it goes to one side or the other , that is also an indication of a stroke.

T * Ask the person to TALK and to speak a simple sentence (Coherently) (ie. It is a sunny day today)

R * Ask the person to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If the person has trouble with ANY SINGLE ONE of these tasks, call 999/911 immediately and describe the symptoms to the paramedics.
RECOGNIZING A STROKE:
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of
awareness often spells disaster. (As with most things) The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage
when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke .
STROKE IDENTIFICATION : an example.....
During a lunch BBQ, a lady stumbled and took a little fall- she assured everyone that she was fine (her friends offered to call the paramedics) .....she said "No No!" she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.
The friends around her got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. Whilst she appeared a bit
shaken up, the lady went about enjoying herself for the rest of the afternoon. This lady's husband called later, telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital, and at about 6:00 pm had passed away. She had suffered a stroke at the lunch BBQ.

Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps this lady would be with us today. Some don't die.... they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead
